Mellah of Marrakech was built in 1558 by the king Moulay Abdallah. Mellah remains a poor district still nowadays. It draws however its charm by the overflowing activity spread there, an activity often more important than in other districts of the Médina. The small shops established there contribute to this charm. Prices charged are obviously more reasonable than elsewhere. These various characteristics transformed Mellah into a place where one can unearth the “best offers” of Marrakech. We advise you however to remain vigilant and to negotiate prices firmly.
